I don't think there's any reason Luke would have to be transplanted from his "canon" universe. From a galaxy far, far away, maybe (although a clever AU could work around that as well), but Luke's story doesn't include dimensional travel, so bringing him in that way strikes me as a bit too far in the direction of jamjar.
