Character Name: Kotetsu T. Kaburagi (aka Wild Tiger) Character Canon: Tiger & Bunny Canon Background:The full story of Wild Tiger!
Omegafriends Background: Kotetsu's savior, in this case, is someone different, and rather more honorable: The Protector, who reassured him of his own capacity to control his power, and to fight and help others. At a fairly young age, Kotetsu joined the Alpha Pals as Wild Tiger, and while his carelessness was somewhat legendary, so too was his dedication to justice and protecting the innocent. When the Alpha Pals disbanded due to antihero sentiment, Kotetsu continued to work underground, even though he was part of the problem considering his tendency towards property damage. Even when The Protector disappeared from the city for unknown reasons, Wild Tiget continued to fill the gap he left.
His longtime support was his wife, Tomoe, who tragically died several years back. She left a daughter, Kaede, who Kotetsu left with his mother. He never told her about his side job, since at the time he was at his most active, it was borderline illegal. For a while, this setup worked. Even when the Omegafriends formed, he continued to work independently, occasionally working with them... until about a year ago. Whether due to old age or just the nature of the power itself, his Hundred Power began to have a shorter and shorter duration. He attempted to ignore it until a fight with a supervillain nearly got him killed; oddly, the circumstances behind this incident also outed him to his daughter, who had just begun to develop a power set of her own. Forced to acknowledge that he could no longer function as a hero, he retired from the scene, leaving things in the hands of the Omegafriends, who were beginning to make themselves known. After all, they were led by The Protector. They had to be good.
And so, Kotetsu T. Kaburagi took his place in the public realm. But much like The Protector himself, he never lost that desire to defend. And his daughter has begun to get on his case about lazing about...
Personality: Take your stereotypical shounen hero and let him grow up to nearly middle age, and you have Kotetsu. Impulsive to a fault, he fights to defend human life, usually with his fists first. His tendency to leap headfirst into a situation before fully taking note of the situation can be a double-edged sword; sure, he can get those people out of the way faster, but look at how much property damage he causes. What's more, he doesn't seem to particularly care if he is destroying things in the process of doing what he does; human lives, after all, take priority over property. This causes no end of frustration for the beancounters. This isn't to say that Kotetsu CAN'T think his way through a situation, but rather that a calculated approach tends to be Plan B for him rather than Plan A. Once he IS forced to think, he can show displays of pure brilliance.
At the same time, he can also be laid back and friendly, which tends to contribute to an overall goofy personality. This aspect is tempered by the wisdom of age; Kotetsu is a veteran, and always willing to give advice to people if he thinks they need it (even if, of course, they don't think the same way). Kotetsu is the sort of guy who thinks of others before he thinks of himself. Some people find this aspect of his personality dorky; others find it rather admirable. He doesn't really care either way.
Mostly. Kotetsu hates to admit it, but he does like receiving recognition and praise for what he does. He won't go out of his way to demand it for the most part, since that's just not what heroes should CARE about, but he does get sullen when he feels like he's not being given his due. Actually call him on it, however, and he immediately shifts into denial mode. It's a vicious cycle, really.
He may seem devil-may-care, but he does have his own worries. Chief among them is his relationship with his ten-year-old daughter, Kaede. Even though his former line of work often resulted in flaking out of familial obligations, he loves her dearly. Now that she's fully aware of who he was, their relationship has improved. Still, they have their strained moments; Kaede has recently gotten rather tired of him not doing anything with his life.
Powers: Kotetsu's Hundred Power, once of five minute duration, and now of... uh, one. Once it's used, he can't use it again for an hour. At some point, he may find some way to reextend it, but for now he remains somewhat hobbled powerwise. He makes up for it by being in decent physical shape and through the use of his wristband, which contains a versatile grappling hook he can use to swing around the city if he needs to.
Notes: Technically, he's still wearing the old dork uniform since he never had a rich sponsor to give him the new one. That might change depending on CR.
