Guest Star Applications

Omegafriends is no longer accepting applications - it is now a dressing room. Want to join? Just join!

Heroes need villains, and not every villain needs to hang around forever! To this end, we accept Guest Star Apps, applications for temporary characters who will be in the game only briefly before disappearing from our story.

Guest Stars differ from normal characters in the following ways:
  • You cannot submit an application for a Guest Star unless you have at least one non-Guest character already in the game. 6/30/14: This rule has been provisionally disabled.
  • You can only have one Guest Star active at a time.
  • The application process is much lighter for Guest Stars - the sample can be smaller and the personality doesn't need to be as thorough.
  • A Guest Star does not count towards your character slot maximum.
  • Activity rules do not apply to Guest Stars.
  • A Guest Star is automatically removed from the game six weeks after their application is accepted.

If you app a Guest Star and later decide to keep them in the game, expand your guest app to a full application and post it in the main Application Post for an upgrade.

Characters you have in the game: Cynthia Holylance

Character Name: The Hamburglar

Character Canon: McDonald's commercials

Canon Background: http://mcdonalds.wikia.com/wiki/Hamburglar

Omegafriends Background: Is he really a red-headed child wearing an outlandish costume, obssessed with cheeseburgers? OF COURSE NOT. The HAMBURGLAR is a force of nature, an elemental expression of purest 'I want a cheeseburger' feelings! BORN FROM THE HEART OF A STAR THAT WANTED A CHEESEBURGER, HE TRAVELS FROM WORLD TO WORLD, STEALING CHEESEBURGERS FOR HIS BURNING MASTER.
Or, you know, he could just be some guy with a lot of head trauma and dumb fast food-themed superpowers. Whichever.

Personality: The only words The Hamburglar speaks are 'cheeseburger' and 'robble', so it's a little hard to get a grip on his personality from that. Therefore, his actions will have to do. Sadly, all his actions can be summed up as 'steals and eats cheeseburgers'. Seriously, this guy is kind of epically focused on a very small set of actions. He basically doesn't have a personality, as befits an elemental avatar of cheeseburger cravings and/or a guy with severe head trauma and weird superpowers.

Powers: He possesses superhuman speed, toughness, and strength - as long as he is trying to steal and eat cheeseburgers. Anything outside of that, he's basically useless. Also, he has the ability to summon non-human minions known as the Fry Guys to serve him - strange creatures that resemble colored pompoms with a pair of noodly legs. They have no arms, travel exclusively with roller skates, and subsist on the french fries that inevitably accompany the burgers stolen by the Hamburglar.

Character Name: See-More
Character Canon: Teen Titans (2003 Cartoon)
Canon Background: http://teentitans.wikia.com/wiki/See-More
Omegafriends Background: See-More's background is essentially the same as in canon, except instead of the Hive Academy he is a student at the Crookstone Academy.

Personality: See-More is basically a greedy nerd who can be a bit of a jerk. He doesn't seem to have any major aspirations besides the occasional theft or other mid-level crime, and perhaps a small crush on Jinx. He taunts, insults, and embarasses heroes when he can, and doesn't miss an opportunity to laugh at those who have fallen for one of his tricks.

Powers: See-More's powers derive from the eye visor on his helmet. The visor has a dial on the side that allows him to cycle through different powers, with each power being represented by a differently colored eye on his helmet. More than just an optical seeing device, the visor is capable of the following stunts:
-Sight in various electromagnetic spectrums, including infrared and x-ray
Projection of laser beams
-Creation and firing of eye-shaped bubbles which can act either as a protective bubble, entrapment sphere, or missiles similar to slingshot stones
-Optically induced hypnosis
-By inflating the eye and popping it out of the visor socket on a long tether, See-More can float around in a fashion similar to a hot-air balloon

Character Name: Jinx
Character Canon: Teen Titans (2003 Cartoon)
Canon Background: http://teentitans.wikia.com/wiki/Jinx
Omegafriends Background: Jinx's canon background is mostly the same as her background in Omega Friends. The main difference is that the Hive Academy is replaced by the Crookstone Academy.

Personality: Jinx is a very ambitious go-getter with a slightly mean streak. Because of her goals to rise among the ranks of villains, she tries her best to be one of Crookstone's star pupils. Far more mature, focused and controlled than her male teammates, Jinx has proven to be a largely capable and determined if subconsciously insecure leader.

Powers: Jinx has the ability of manipulation over luck, specifically bad luck. The series describes Jinx as an "enchanting sorceress who wields the power of bad luck", which manifests as pink, lightning-like energy blasts/waves fired from her hands, though sometimes her eyes just glow pink without the "firing" any sort of magic off to cause the effects. Besides the vague "bad luck", she seems to be able to weaken structures and fire purely offensive blasts of magical energy as well.
Jinx is also an accomplished gymnast, capable of dodging beam-bursts, starbolts, and pillars of stone telekinetically launched at her with ease. She also excels at hand to hand combat.

Character Name: Civilian Name: Antonio Martin / Codename: Escudo
Character Canon: OC

Background: Antonio was born in the city of of Málaga in Andalusia, Spain. He had a fairly normal life until he was 8, when it first came to light that he had a persistent aura that suppressed magic, bringing him and his family to the attention of a group of cultists who believed that he must be destroyed as part of some prophecy. He came home from school one day to find his home burning and his parents gone, and was soon snatched up by the cultists.
Before they got far, the cultists were engaged by a local superhero group called the Knights of Montessa, who were dedicated to fighting supernatural villains. They defeated the cultists and saved Antonio, but his parents were never found and the cultists never revealed any information. Antonio was adopted into their order, and they trained him to fight and to do more with his latent power.
As he trained and the Order studied him, more was discovered about his power: Antonio was a natural gate for the otherworldly energies of another dimension called Caelorum. The flow of these energies was strong enough that it disrupted any power that relied on the energies of another dimension (such as most magic and some other superpowers) when used too close to the boy. As he trained, he learned to suppress and increase the flow of energy, which decreased or increased the area in which magic was disrupted, respectively. When he got older, he also learned to channel the energy into certain materials (metal was the easiest), temporarily making them stronger.
When they felt he was ready, the Order made him into a full-fledged superhero. At 15, they gifted him with a special suit of armor and shield, a magic sword, and a magic headband, and dubbed him "Escudo". Less than a year later, the Order once again came into conflict with the same cultists that attacked Antonio in his youth, babbling about some gem that would be a portal for their demon lord master to bring the end of the world. Again, the defeated cultists revealed nothing, and the Order decided they must split up and search the world for this gem. The council decided that Escudo would search in Venture City, and made arrangements with the Omegafriends to accommodate him as part of "youth foreign exchange" program, without informing them of the real reason for his visit.

Personality: Escudo is a good person at heart, and tries to always do the right thing. However, he's been raised to see things as a bit too black and white, and struggles when it comes to legitimately grey areas. As a hero, he is a bit overzealous and passionate sometimes, and sometimes jumps to conclusions.
As a civilian, he feels a bit lost in a new country on his own. He is mostly fluent in English but slips up sometimes, and is rather self-conscious about it. He secretly misses his home quite a bit. He can be mildly sexist in the "girls are damsels that must be protected" mindset, which I hope for him to overcome.

Powers:
Escudo is a conduit for extra-dimensional energies which constantly flow out from him, creating a sort of 'aura' that is imperceptible to the vast majority of people. These have a couple effects:
1. Any power that comes from or is fueled by another dimension (such as almost all magic, as well as certain other superpowers) is completely negated within Escudo's aura. Without any effort (or even consciousness) on his part, this aura extends about 5 feet away from him in all directions.
2. With a small bit of exertion, he can reduce the size of this aura to a few inches, or expand it to 10 feet away. With more exertion, he can extend the field even further, but the larger he makes it and the longer he sustains it will physically exhaust him more and more. For example, he could extend the field to a 100-ft radius around him, but this would physically tax him about as much as if he were lifting 100 lbs over his head for the same length of time.
3. He can temporarily imbue these energies into non-living objects, making them stronger. Metal is the easiest material to imbue, becoming roughly 10 times stronger. Woods and plastics become about 5 times as strong, and other materials are less effective by varying degrees. This imbuement also seems to redirect the flow of other more mundane energies (such as kinetic or heat energy) through the materials, offering some protection from explosions and the like. Escudo can imbue his armor and shield with little difficulty, but larger objects again require proportionally more effort.
4. There may be other uses for these energies that Antonio hasn't discovered yet.

The Order of Montessa also gave Escudo special equipment to aid him on his quest, some of which has been enchanted. (These items also draw their power from Caelorum and are not adversely effected by Escudo's aura):
1. The Armor and Shield of Montessa: these items are not magical. They are pieces of armor that have been crafted in the style of the late-middle-ages suits of plate armor by the master smiths of the Order. Because of Escudo's gift, they have been made with better materials than steel: a sort of alloy of titanium and depleted promethium.
2. The Sword of Caelorum. This XIIa-style sword with a 35 inch blade was enchanted centuries ago with the energies of Caelorum. It is effectively indestructible and demonstrates cutting power that surpasses what should be physically possible for any single blade.
3. Venda de Caelorum. This headband can be attuned to certain items and store them in and retrieve them from Caelorum. With a touch and a thought, Escudo's armor, shield, and sword can be stored away and be brought back to earth in a shimmer of light. When brought back to earth, they automatically appear on Escudo's body, ready to be used.

Characters you have in the game: Erika Kurumi, Aya Shameimaru

Character Name: Propeller Knight
Character Canon: Shovel Knight
Canon Background: Shovel Knight is not a game with a detailed backstory.
Omegafriends Background:
The Order of No Quarter is an ancient and proudly sinister order of knights, dedicated to the pursuit of power, the abhorrence of mercy, and the furthering of the goals of true villains. Every time one dies or retires, another takes their place, so that there are always eight knights among them. The Order seeks out villains of the highest calibur, and sends knights from their number to serve them in whatever evil plans they may concoct. Why? Chaos for the sake of chaos.

Personality:
Propeller Knight is a romantic at heart - or some sort of weird villainous equivalent of the same. He admires all forms of beauty in the world, and often waxes poetic over whatever catches his fancy. He flirts shamelessly, but not with any intent of winning hearts - it's just how he interacts with people.

He is also, however, a knight of the Order of No Quarter. While he may be amiable before battle, he is merciless during it. He cares not for what reason his current master fights - the fight itself is his purpose, and to further the cause of evil and chaos in the world. His true identity is forever secret, his helmet never to be removed.

Powers:
Ostensibly none, although the physics of his helmet is pretty dubious. By using his propeller, Propeller Knight can hover or soar through the air, but he is also strictly a melee fighter. His primary weapon is his trusty rapier, and he carries it with great skill.
